September 2025
September Hours: 0
Cumulative Hours: 0
During this first month of class, I decided to fully immerse myself in this new advanced curriculum before I begin my volunteer work at Ochsner in October. This month has been a huge shift from my previous years in undergrad, especially the workload, but studying something I am so passionate about has been such an exciting journey to embark on. September began with our inflammation module, where I learned the ins and outs of NSAIDs and acetaminophen, along with other steroid drugs. I particularly found our independent studies over the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis and gout very interesting, as they are diseases I have come across in my day-to-day life. Professors like Dr. Clarkson, Dr. Lindsey, and Dr. Katakam have motivated me to work even harder through their own passion over the subject matter. I have also really enjoyed our Advances course and learning how to professionally present research to the class and connect these studies to global issues that affect each of us. I was able to give a presentation over COPD and using DNA modification as an alternative treatment and the efficacy of Remdesivir on early COVID patients. I am eager to continue learning and pushing myself to master skills of not only my own study methods but also time management and networking throughout my remaining time in the program that will greatly benefit me in my future professional endeavors.
